Attuned (adj):
being in a harmonious or responsive relationship
Although everyone can make choices in tune with the environment, many are unaware of this or decide not to out of convenience. Speaking out about this is what drives me. Once when snorkeling in Hawaii I explained to fellow tourists that standing on reefs severely damages them.
When I look at a bird, I reflect on its role in the ecosystem. If we lose that bird we lose not only its beauty, but also the services it provides to the world and therefore to us all.
I am pursuing my Masters in Public Administration while working at the USEPA. By making people aware of their options I hope to initiate positive changes. The environment is the foundation of our economy. To thrive we must protect and restore our environment.

Interview Excerpts
How do you think of yourself?
Modest and conservative. I would care more about using recycled paper then what the latest trends are. I’d choose my family over my friends. If I learn how my actions affect the environment negatively, I’ll do my best to change them. I don’t buy Victoria Secrets because of the kind of paper they use for their catalogues-the paper comes from endangered softwood forests.
How do you envision the future?
If things keep going the way they are going as far as our current administration’s choices and how people are living now, I see a dreary future. A lot depends on the environment. I see the environment as the foundation of our economy. If we take it away things will crumble. Positively people change. If people are aware about different options, I think they will make a change. It has to affect them personally for them to make a change.
